Most people see a job interview as a challenging chore. There is a large element of fear due to a candidate?s natural tendency to be nervous. With nervousness comes the possibility of not achieving your best. Successfully completing a job interview requires excellent preparation and a positive state of mind. A job interview is the major aspect from which companies evaluate candidates and ensure that the company is operating efficiently in talented, safe hands. In an interview, the employer is able to envisage your past, present and future, so if you choose to attempt an interview without any strategy or preparation, then you will muddle up the interview and it will leave the interviewer with a negative impression of you.

When you are going for the job interview, it is worth remembering that both you and the interviewer have prepared for it. The interviewer will be trying to test you every moment of the interview. The interviewer will try to trick you with a variety of questions and you must prepare yourself for this eventuality by preparing your answers. Position your answers based on the facts and your qualifications. The outcome of the interview is dependent on how you answer the questions and how well you substantiate yourself.

Always be prepared to say why you want this job and why you want this job in this particular organization. You will be asked questions such as, ?What are your achievements??, ?What are your skills, according to your past supervisors??, ?What are you expecting from this particular job?? in the interview. You must be prepared to answer the questions honestly and in considerable detail. Highlight some examples to clarify your answers. Have in your mind a detailed study of examples you can use. Being successful in a job interview requires some skills including building a successful rapport with your interviewer.

Always have your material, files and other things prepared well before you face the interviewer. Have at least two copies of your updated resume or CV and two to three references which will support your overall impression. Job interviews are not mere conversations: in an interview you share, present and gain knowledge of several things that are related to you and the job for which you are applying. So you must come prepared with all the documentation, necessary data and work samples, which will assist you in clarifying your answers.

Collect and remember the issues relevant to the company. Prepare a few questions to ask regarding the company?s role and other related topics. Search for the company?s trade figures and research company policies. You can ask about any doubts if you have any in mind. Asking for clarification of doubts is a good sign, as it shows that you are really keen about this job.

To be dressed appropriately is equally important. Making a positive first impression is half the battle won. Dress professionally and be at ease. Speak with clarity and honesty. Be confident and aware. Have a positive mind set and show loads of energy and enthusiasm.
