The questions you may be asked in any interview can be separated into different types according to the job requirements and the skills that are being tested. Broadly speaking, these types are the general interview and the technical interview. General interview questions are similar regardless of the job. In this particular type of interview, the candidate is assessed on their communication skills and confidence.

Some examples of typical questions are:

* Can you tell me your educational qualifications? * In which school/university etc did you obtain your education? * What is the role that you are applying to work for in our company? * How confident do you feel about your chances in obtaining this job? * What job did you have previous to this application? * Do you intend to remain with this company for a considerable time or would you be considering transfers/promotions to another company in the near future? * Which of the following would you consider is your highest priority: the payment, the job satisfaction, the job security, or convenience? * What was your last salary level? * What are your expectations from the company? If we were to offer you the position, what would you expect as a starting salary? * What is your knowledge of our company? * Do you have any disability issues that may affect your ability to perform tasks? Would you require extra assistance to complete your duties? * Can you tell us something about your other interests and hobbies? * Can you give us an indication of your analytical abilities; present a few examples of when you have applied these abilities previously? * What long-term goals do you have? * What short-term goals do you have? * Where in your estimation do you think you would be five years from now? * Why do you think that you are the right person for this job? * Why did you leave your previous employment? * What is your definition of a team player? * Can you provide instances from the past when you proved to be a team player? * How would you handle a conflict with a colleague? * Can you briefly describe a few examples from the past, where you have been able to avoid a conflict without intervention? * Can you give a recount of a memorable incident that occurred during your previous job? * What do you perceive you can achieve by working with this company? * Do you reside locally? * Would you be comfortable if you were offered a transfer in the future? * (If you live some distance away) Would you have any difficulties with traveling so far each day? * Is there anything we can tell you about this company?

These are only a small number of the common personal questions that are frequently asked for all types of jobs. These may be asked by a particular interviewer who is only in attendance for these questions. The technical questions are usually asked by the separate interviewers.

It is very important that your answers to all questions indicate clear and professional thinking. You should always be sure to answer them confidently.
